A question I am often asked (and happy to answer!) is “What should we wear to our photosession?”
The short answer: Something that expresses your family’s personality!
The long answer: Pick a color theme and stick to it. Don’t “match” ; coordinate.
In this wardrobe board I came up with, I picked a color palette of orange, white/cream and a pop of tiffany blue. Everyone is dressed within that palette, but no one is “matching.” Dad and son are both wearing orange shirts and shorts, but boy is wearing a polo while dad is wearing a plain tee, and dad has some plain white cargo shorts, which are quite different than boy’s interesting plaid shorts.
This creates TONS of visual interest. Mom and daughter are not matching, but their outfits compliment each other. The orange and blue are birth tertiary colors and their positions on the color wheel make them a great duo!
This would be perfect for a summer beach portrait session. I can just imagine some gorgeous candid portraits on the sand with the ocean horizon in the backdrop. Or posing under a dock? (Charlotte Beach Pier, anyone?)
These clothes just scream SUMMER!
The children’s outfits are currently available at Janie & Jack! Dress is from Net Au Porter, and dad’s clothes are from Gap and Old Navy.
Have a wonderful week!
